Our Beliefs
At Zion Methodist Church, our beliefs are rooted in the life-changing truth of the Gospel. We are a Christ-centered community dedicated to loving God, loving others, and making a difference in the world.

The Trinity
We believe in and worship one eternal God, who exists as three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though each is unique, they all exist as one God.
God the Father
We believe that by nature, God is Eternal, all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing. He is the Creator and sustainer of all things. He is unchanging in His nature and character and is the fullness of all that is good and holy. He is Love, Light, and Truth.
God the Son
We believe in the Son, eternally begotten but not created. He was born of a virgin and took on a human nature to bring us salvation. He is fully God and fully man. He is the Word become flesh.

He lived a perfect, sinless life. He suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried. Three days later, He rose from the dead and later ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He will return one day for the final judgment and to fulfill God’s Kingdom.
God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God’s eternal Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son to live in everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as their Savior, connecting us with God. The Spirit calls those in sin to new life in Christ and guides them in spiritual growth in that new life.
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is God’s direct revelation to humanity, teaching us about Himself. It is wholly inspired by Him, given through human writers to compose its 66 books, which make up the Old and New Testaments. Because it comes from God, the Bible is completely true and without error in its original writings.

The Bible carries the full authority of God and we are to obey it, as God's command, in all that it requires. It is thus fully trustworthy in all that it promises.
Man
We believe that God created people in His own spiritual image to reflect His character and represent Him as the highest part of His creation. Because of this, humans are set apart from the rest of creation and have sacred worth and inherent dignity. This value comes from God alone.

Life is a gift from God and that life begins at conception. Man was created as male and female, and created to complement and support one another in a one-flesh union of marriage, setting the standard pattern for sexual relations between man and woman.
Freewill, Sin, Grace, and Salvation
God offers man the free will to choose to submit to a life of obedience. Through the temptation of Satan, man chose to rebel and disobey the commands of God, thus submitting the human race to the power of sin. Man is in complete need of God's intervention to be freed from sin's hold on life.

God offers salvation and forgiveness as a free gift of grace to those who have faith in Jesus, whose sacrifice on the cross paid for our sins. Just as man possesses the free will to reject God's commandments, he also possesses the free will to choose to accept God's free gift of grace.
The Church
We believe that the church has been placed in the world to be a shining light and testament to the glory of God.

It is the gathering of Jesus‘ followers, joining together in worship and mission, by which God promises to spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to transform the world. It is the task of the church to be witnesses of Christ til the end of days in order to make disciples of all the nations.

We believe that Christ instituted two practices of sacrament that we are to observe regularly as the church: Baptism by water and the Holy Communion.
Eternity
We believe that man will exist for all eternity after passing from life on earth. That eternity exists in one of two places, Heaven and Hell.

Heaven waits for all who trust in Jesus for Salvation. Hell was created for Satan and his demons, but it is also the place of eternal suffering for all who reject the gift of Salvation given through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ will return to earth again one day, bringing final judgment and a new creation. God will create a new Heaven and a new earth, and all that has been wronged by the power of sin will be right forever more.
